Meet The Pets

Doing something a little different this week… we are going to be going through the furry members of our household.

Realising I don’t share all of my pets as much as I probably should, I think they deserve their own blog post.

I am going to start off with the eldest member of the family, who is…

Mazzie

Mazzie is 15 years old and still acts like a 6 month old kitten.

Mazzie loves lying in the sun, catching everything outside and exploring.

Mazzie had a sister, who we lost in 2010. Mazzie is such a independent cat, that she didn’t even notice of her sisters passing.

She’s a very loving cat (when she wants to be), loves strokes and likes to lie on your lap, but when she’s had enough, she’s had enough.

She’s a beautiful girl inside and out.

Alfie

Alfie is 8 and is a father to 7 pups, which he had when he was 1 years old!

He is no doubt the favourite in the household, especially to my dad.

When we first got Alfie, he was a very naughty boy. He would eat anything and everything (including snails, stones, sheets, etc) One day when dad was taking the dogs for a walk, he noticed a bit of cloth hanging out of Alfie’s bum, he pulled it and it ended up being a 4 foot long sheet, which he had ate! We was very very lucky that it didn’t kill him.

After this we had Alfie castrated and he changed into a completely different dog.

He’s a very loving, cuddly and relaxed dog, but he loves winding up his 2 children, who also live with us and then walks away to act like they were naughty and not him.

Charlie

Charlie is Alfie’s son and is currently 7 years old!

Charlie, when he was a puppy, was so loving, calm and friendly, but because we also had a girl dog, we had to have him castrated. It turned Charlie the other way. He was more hyper and more rough with people and animals.

Charlie wasn’t actually going to be ours, but we struggled to get rid of Alfie’s puppies, so we ended up keeping 2.

He acts all hard, but is a wuss when it comes to new people, loud noises and other things he hears everyday.

Poppy

Poppy is Alfie’s daughter and Charlie’s sister and is also 7.

Poppy is such a loving dog, but very very needy!

She hates fire engines and howls every time one goes past our house.

Poppy is my dog. When her mum gave birth to all of the pups, we was told that the mum along with all 7 pups wouldn’t survive, so my parents told me if they do survive, I can choose one and I chose Poppy.

Thor

Thor was my first ever Guinea Pig, along with Loki! But he was chosen first.

He was very grumpy, unless it involved foods he likes.

He liked to be left alone and hidden away from the world.

Thor was a victim of bullying when he was with his past owners and had a chunk bitten out of his ears.

Thor passed away Feb 2021 and still holds a huge place in my heart! I know you shouldn’t have favourites, but he was mine.

Loki

Loki is a very loving, cuddly boy and turned 3 in February 2021.

Loki is known for being very clean, shiny and to have 2 white paws on his left side.

He is known for his affection towards everyone.

Loki’s best friend is Herbie and they are inseparable. It’s adorable!

Now Loki is getting that little bit older, he’s started becoming a grumpy old man and starting to get a few grey hairs!

Herbie

Herbie joined us in 2019 and is currently 2 years old.

He is our biggest boy. He loves his food and doesn’t stop! It doesn’t matter if you take food away from him, he still finds something to eat. Wether it be a puppy pad, bedding or his own poop.

He hates his tummy and legs being touched and will bite you if you dare touch him there, but does love a good cuddle. When you stroke and scratch his back he stretches and yawns and it’s the cutest thing.

When you’re cuddling Herbie and he needs a wee, instead of peeing where he is, he would rather go back home to go to the bathroom. He will bite at your clothing, climb up on you and squeak until you let him back in.

Lumi

Lumi joined us in 2020. He is 9 months old and turns 1 on 5th July 2021.

Lumi is a very independent boy and has been ever since he was little and loves to live on his own.

He adores his Nannie.

Lumi hates the other boys.

Lumi is also the most trusting towards me and Nannie (but hates all other humans) You can do anything to him and he isn’t bothered.

Come back next Sunday for more interesting facts about Guinea Pigs!
