Our Rescue Piggies – A Little Back story
On 10th June 2021, I went round to an old friends house for a girly night! During my time there we walked over to a family members house to feed their pets for them whilst they were away.
When I was helping, I noticed they had 4 Guinea pigs hidden away in the corner 1 boy and 3 girls. Louie and Betsy were on their own in hutches and Delilah and Dora were together.

Me being me, I immediately started cuddling them all! My friend told me that her family member hadn’t really spent a lot of time with them since their wife’s passing and they were thinking of re-homing them! Without even a second thought, I jumped the gun and said I would have them. I went home and started preparing for them even though it wasn’t confirmed I was having them yet, but it’s better to be prepared than not.
Since there was 4 pigs in need of new homes and I already had 3 boys at home, I asked my neighbour, who loves animals, if she would be willing to either adopt the girls or foster them until we could find them the perfect forever home. After a bit of persuasion and a lot of hesitation she said yes. So whilst waiting for confirmation it was all hands on deck!
11th June 2021 was the day we went and picked them up! We were all so excited, but also very nervous. When we brought them to their new forever homes, they were very anxious pigs, didn’t like to be handled or touched. So it was a definitely a challenge!

Once we got them in, we took them out to give them a clean, nail trim, a cuddle and some treats! The only one who tolerated being held was Louie. He was difficult to catch, but once we had him, he would snuggle down! The girls however were very skittish and loved to bite (which was completely normal, due to them not being interacted with a lot)
Moving to their new homes
The girls went to their forever homes. All 3 were housed together and ended up being inseparable! Squeaking constantly for treats, even though being fed 5 seconds ago!

Louie first was in my room, on his own. One evening Lumi kept looking and squeaking at me, so I went upstairs and brought Louie down to meet the boys. As soon as I walked through my door Lumi was squeaking and pop corning! so we decided to let them meet and since that moment, he has been by Louie’s side – the best of friends!

So where are they now?
Sadly the girls have now all passed away, but they lived the most amazing retirement with my neighbour. All girls were beautiful and had such incredible personalities! I am so grateful we got to give them a great home!

Louie is still with us, living his happily ever after with Lumi. Louie has come out of his shell so much since being with his soulmate. He still is a little skittish when being picked up, but once he’s on you, he settles and loves it even more when Lumi is with him.

They are and we’re all such lovely piggies! I am forever grateful and blessed that they came into our lives. The girls lived the most spoilt retirements as a trio and Louie is living his best retirement with his soulmate!
